Festival Special Trains: 392 special trains will run from today.

In view of the upcoming festive season, from today to November 30, there 392 special trains will be run. The fare of these trains will be expensive by 10-30 percent depending on the class of travel. During Durga Puja, Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath Puja special trains will be run for other places like Kolkata, Patna, Varanasi, Lucknow to meet the increasing demand.

So far, the Railways have deployed 666 Mail / Express special trains, which run regularly across the country. These new festival trains will run only till 30 November. The Railway Board said that special trains will be operated at a speed of 55 kmph.

Railways had suspended all their regular services since March due to the Coronavirus epidemic and later started operating trains as per demand and requirement. From May 12, the Railways started running limited special trains to help the stranded people across the country. It started with 15 pairs of premium Rajdhani special trains, connecting Delhi to various parts of the country. This was followed by 100 pairs of long-distance trains on 1 June. Apart from this, 80 trains were started on 12 September 2020.

Earlier this month, Railway Board Chairman and CEO Vinod Kumar Yadav said that the Railways would take stock of passenger services on a daily basis, depending on the needs of state governments and the state of the epidemic.


Passengers are required to follow these guidelines

  • Entry to the station can be by confirmed ticket only.
  • Passengers have to arrive at the station approximately 90 minutes before the journey time, so that the process of thermal screening can be easily completed.
  • All travelers are required to download the Arogya Setu app to travel.
  • Blankets and bed sheets will not be provided by the Railways during the journey.
  • It will be necessary to follow the rules of social distancing while boarding the train and during the journey.
  • There will be thermal screening of all passengers at the railway station and only those passengers will get entry in the train, which will not show any signs.
  • It will be necessary to wear a mask during the journey.
